[ Adam remembers Crowley's reaction during the conversation they had earlier and figures that maybe it's best to meet somewhere that isn't their home.]
We can meet in ice cream shop downtown. Near the pet shop.
He doesn't take too long to get to the shop. As usual, he's brought Dog along, trotting along by his feet. The boy doesn't really care to check if they allow pets in there.
He finds her easily enough, and sits across from her.]
[ That does actually surprise him, mostly because heβs, of course, seen demons. He quite literally lives with one. He...quite literally is - was? - related to demons.]
( there's a brief pause, a gathering of her thoughts before she adds-- )
The first demon. ( though she knows that in his world things are very different, that demons are fallen angels ) I assume that your-- guardians have told you much about angels and demons? About how the world came to be?
It isn't that it's different but what is forgotten.
( yes, some of it is different, her demons aren't fallen angels as crowley is but that's not what she's concerned with )
The world was created by the false god, that much is true. Two humans began their life in a garden, a paradise, made to live in eternity together. But this is where mortal history gets the story wrong. They would tell you the tale of Adam and Eve. But there was another before her, a woman that was cast out from the Garden for her beliefs, simple things that she desired. Her name was Lilith.
( she pauses for a moment, giving him time to digest it but not enough time to ask anything )
She wandered the wastelands for centuries until Lucifer found her, saving her where the false god has cast her out. For you see, the reason she'd survived for so long was because she wasn't mortal but a witch. The first witch.
( the tale isn't complete, not without millennia of story telling but she has one other part she needs to tell him )
[ Adam listens. For as many questions as he could probably think to ask, her tone and the whole point of their conversation are more than enough to keep him settled and quiet.
So he takes in the story. He does realize that the world and the stories about gods and demons and angels and whatever he may have absorbed in the past are true - obviously, being what he is, seeing what he has seen -, but it's still a completely different thing altogether to actively learn about them.
But she makes her point and he blinks, looking genuinely surprised. He lingers on that faintly stunned silence for a couple of seconds, but not too many. ]
So...you're the first witch. And a demon. [ Simply going over what she just told him. ]
You told me you were a witch, when we met. Why didn't you tell me your real name?
[ His gaze on her never breaks, attentive and quiet, and lacking in much expression, making him difficult to read. But that also means that heβs not showing anger or frustration in any manner, either. No, heβs simply trying to understand.
If she had been defensive, if she had strongly refuted his questions, then maybe he would have been more suspicious. Maybe he would have felt betrayed, but, no, all he feels is curiosity, and the want to understand.
He believes her intent in her reasons, whatever those might really be, in full. ]
Who? [ Trust, thatβs all. He knows heβs a kid. Most adults will never tell kids the full story.] And why couldnβt she know?
( now she doesn't even tell the truth, or at least not the entire truth. what lilith says is true even if it isn't the real reason. what happened between her and sabrina was their truth, their business and it isn't something lilith's in the habit of sharing )
Being the first witch-- it's the one history that more accurately tells the tale, my life with Lucifer, how witchkind was shaped into the Path of Night.
( but she stops herself from thinking too much on that, not wanting to veer too far from the topic )
I don't often reveal my true self. Not when a name would alter much of an interaction. But now-- now that my truth has been revealed to Sabrina it's-- perhaps less of a concern.
( at least with people she knew for now. and with only sabrina there from their world it impacted little )
[ He doesn't understand all of it, and perhaps he can't, unless Lilith takes the time to explain things that might be too complicated for a single afternoon. She's said a lot as is, and he takes the honesty in stride. That's all he wanted. That's all he expected, too, even after Crowley tried to warn him that he probably wouldn't get that.
But Adam believes her. ]
I guess that's understandable. [ He comments almost too casually. ] If you were just afraid she'd know.
[ There's something else on his mind. Not the same situation, but his own parallel none the less. ]
...there's tons of people here from a lot of different places. We don't know what they really are, most of them.
[ Like the witches she's told him about. How many people could be hiding their true natures for their own safety? ]
( she catches that pause, the carefulness of how he speaks and-- it's a funny thing. she remains gentle with him, more a guidance that he can tell her if he chooses than outright asking him. because it's his secret and he needs to be comfortable with who he tells )
Well-- some secrets need not be shared with others. They are yours, your choice of whether your share them.
( and while she didn't have to admit hers even with him asking she had for a reason -- some form of trust )
If you do share it make sure you know why you are.
[ A form of trust - that's what it meant to him, too. It was hardly too shocking, now, to hear that someone's actually a non-human creature. Two, three months can do a lot when it all happens at once. All that mattered to him was feeling like she wasn't lying. And perhaps proving a point to himself, after the exchange he had with Crowley.
And she came clean. But now, he sits there, wondering about the other side of that. About being honest. About how things hardly matter here, really, when you're entirely out of your element. He's not really ashamed; he doesn't make a big deal out of it, even though it was a huge deal back home. He didn't entirely erase that part of himself, he feels it there. And he also feels like maybe she deserves the honesty.
In fact, considering what she told him she is, the whole thing with the garden, with Lucifer, angels, demons, things of such nature. It makes sense, right?
He puts a lot of thought into that, in a few lingering seconds. He makes his decision. And he looks at her again.]
I have one, too. [ Grave only because it's a secret, less about its actual nature. ]
Do you remember that time, at the bank? When those robbers were getting in.
( she straightens up slightly, quietly looking over him before responding )
I do remember. The day that we first met.
( and it had been that first moment that had sparked curiosity within her, a wonder of what he was, the power that she felt from him that was so familiar and yet unknown. it was a curiosity that she'd still had but one that she'd put aside -- people were from different places and their powers felt entirely different from what she was used to. but it seemed that it really did come with a story )
no subject
( she doesn't suspect it's anything odd )
Anything I can do to help.
no subject
Are you human?
no subject
Perhaps we should discuss this in person.
( much better than a method so impersonal )
no subject
Okay...
Where?

We can meet in ice cream shop downtown. Near the pet shop.

Hey.
no subject
( there's a gentle smile, though perhaps a little more cautious than before.
she doesn't try to distract though, giving him his answer )
It's a longer story than simply whether I'm human.
( he could probably assume she isn't )
no subject
This is probably where Adam's lack of expression doesn't quite come in handy. But, for what it's worth, he doesn't really sound upset or anything.]
Okay. [ Simple enough.]
Why didn't you say so before?
no subject
( she doesn't really want to explain everything with sabrina )
But-- it's an old one. ( she pauses, head dipping slightly ) I was born human, a witch, but over the years-- I became more. A demon.
no subject
A demon? [ He waits for her to go on.]
no subject
( there's a brief pause, a gathering of her thoughts before she adds-- )
The first demon. ( though she knows that in his world things are very different, that demons are fallen angels ) I assume that your-- guardians have told you much about angels and demons? About how the world came to be?
no subject
Not much. [ He could have asked. But he didn't think to.
Information about the world has a funny way of working in his head. ]
Is it different from yours?
no subject
( yes, some of it is different, her demons aren't fallen angels as crowley is but that's not what she's concerned with )

My name isn't Mary Wardwell, Adam. It's Lilith.

( no one did, aside from angels and the devil, everyone believed that she was mary wardwell but this was a different case indeed )
She's from my world. I'd kept it a secret from her and thus from everyone else.
( though it was an old habit even without that. to most did she really tell them that she was lilith? no )
no subject

( there's a curiosity of whether he's simply making a comment based on this or whether he has something more specific in mind )
Whilst many people are honest about what they are others have reasons to keep hidden, perfectly valid ones.
no subject
He considers it and it shows, vaguely, by how something seems to be weighing on his mind, when her secrecy hadn't. ]
Yeah.
[ He's quiet for a couple of seconds, looking off as he thinks.
Then he looks up at her again. ]
Like not knowing what other people will think. Or if it's hard to explain.
