( she's quiet as she studies the wound, moving lower to be kneeled on the ground in front of him.

it's certainly something that she's never encoutered before though a child made of plants--

a plant child inhabited by a demon and--

her focus stays on his arm, the hand that's touching his arm starts to feel warm, her other hand coming to rest over his wound. she starts trying to heal him, hoping to do at least a little help )

[Some of the blades of grass did manage to regrow, but overall it looks like someone took a weed whacker to his limb. Normally it wouldn't be an issue, he's been able to regrow himself in Ooo without much issue, but here in Deerington his ability has been a lot dicier.

Luckily Lilith's magic helps kickstart things. He blinks at the warmth coming from her hand, watching as the plant matter gradually reforms, turning a healthy dark green as it starts growing into the shape of a human arm.]

( it's the first time that lilith has tried healing someone here. though she's noticed a general weakening in herself depending on what magic she uses nothing has really been affected.

until this. she feels it first as a scratching, a sort if tingling sensation that grows as his arm begins to reform. but the more magic that lilith expends, the more that she's healing him the worse that feeling becomes. though she doesn't make a pained sound some of it doesn't filter through into her expression.

but she pushes through it. by the time that his arm has finished regrowing they'll really see the cost of her power, with deep gouges running along the inside of her left arm, blood flowing from the injury )

[Fern's concentration is on his own arm, at first. Though magic has a strong presence in Ooo he doesn't see the healing kind of it all that often, usually he just powers through injuries unless they're serious, so it's fascinating to watch. He has to wonder if this is more nature-based, or if whatever's she's doing would work on a human. How would that even look? Would everything just regrow, or would it have to be bones first, then tendons and muscles, and then skin?

His thoughts are drifting, though when he notices the blood on her arm he snaps out of it and jabs a finger at her, freaked out.]

What the glob, what happened to you?!

[sathan]

( she only looks down at her own arm once he makes a comment on it, not having noticed the difference from the burning pain to the blood that now ran from her, dripping onto the lap of her dress.

it takes her a moment, hand resting on the wound before looking back up at him )

I wasn't injured before. ( she frowns, considering what had happened. the only thing that had changed from her being uninjured to injured is that she'd healed him ) This place does affect us without warning.

[He has no clue how she's managing to keep so calm, he certainly isn't. She's bleeding, and it's only a guess, but it sounds like her using her magic on him is the reason why.]

Aaah, that's screwed up! You shouldn't have helped me!

[He really doesn't like seeing someone get hurt on his behalf. Finn has always been too much of a self-sacrificing hero to tolerate it.]

Do you need to go to the hospital??

[sathan]

No.

( her hand presses over the wound now but it's bigger than her hand, doing little to prevent the blood from still flowing. she could have someone look at it, even bandage it at home but it would stop itself soon -- she's had worse injuries, pulling her own rib out with just her hands was one. #demons )

I didn't know this would happen.

[laminae]

I didn't either!

[If he did, he wouldn't have called her. But since she isn't frantic, then he'll try to simmer down.]

That's a lot of blood. Can witches even die from blood loss?

[Witch anatomy is a mystery to him, he didn't bother reading that chapter in the Enchiridion, and he doesn't want her passing out or anything if she's refusing the hospital.]

[sathan]

A witch could.

( she moves her hand across it, trying to heal it but it doesn't work. the injury doesn't worsen but it doesn't heal either )

But I'm not only a witch.

( it's a confession she only makes because of what she's recently seen with him, encountering the demon he coexists with )

[laminae]

[He blinks at her, shocked. Back home witches were... witches. Their own thing, like wizards and vampires. It's never occurred to him that a witch could be just that and something else.]

Wait, really?

[Is now a good time to be curious about this? But he can't help feeling that way.]

Are you something that isn't gonna die from blood loss?

[sathan]

( she nods and though it's slower than before it will stop itself )

I'm a demon.

( she knows the information is safe with him, knowing he has his own demon, that he didn't condemn her for some of her own actions. he'd already semi-confessed doing something dreadful himself but then she'd met his own demon, something she planned to talk to him about.

lilith holds her hand out to him, the one on her left arm, her other still pressed to the wound )

We should get off the street.

[laminae]

[She's right, he doesn't have a problem with that confession. He's encountered plenty of demons in his life, good and bad, so he's only mildly surprised rather than horrified.]

Oh - yeah.

[Grabbing her hand, he'll stand. He's still concerned about her injury, and sitting around out here isn't going to help. He'll follow her.]

That's cool. One of my best friends is half demon.

[sathan]

( though she stands lilith doesn't lead them anywhere, using her magic to teleport them to her home. particularly with her injury lilith wanted to get there quickly and they did have some pressing topics to talk about )

Tea?

( she's going to go to the kitchen anyway, getting herself something strong along with tea. and maybe a bandage )

[laminae]

[Aaand he's jumping again. Teleportation: not an ability that's easy to get used to when there's no warning.]

You gotta warn me when you do that!

[It takes him a beat to process her question, since he's immediately looking around. This place is certainly... rustic. All the candles and wood remind him of the Tree Fort, strangely enough.]

S - sure.

[... Wait, that isn't a good answer.

He hesitates, before following after her. Explaining this is always weird and uncomfortable.]

Or - you don't need to. I can't drink anything, I uh. Absorb through my roots.

[sathan]

( she's not used to taking passengers with her, not usually needing to warn someone when she does teleport. but she nods, hearing him follow.

she starts with wrapping a towel around her arm, she doesn't keep bandages in the kitchen (nor have any but she'll sort that) before washing the blood from her hands )

That doesn't matter.

( if that's how he 'drank' then he could. the same question stands and as she turns to him she fixes him with a look, expecting an answer )

Water?

( if it would be better than tea for his absorption. she was a demon, she didn't judge )

[Well, that's a relief. He's only drank using his roots in front of one person here, and Will didn't judge him for it. It's nice knowing there's a second person who doesn't care about his awful body.]

Tea's okay. I think. Unless it's deadly to plants. I haven't tried it before.

[He isn't actually sure, having stuck to drinking water since becoming Fern. But it's made from plants so it can't be toxic, right? Probably? One of these days he's going to finally read a book on plant biology.

He's going to find part of the counter to awkwardly lean against, out of her way.]

Thanks for helping me out. Sorry about your arm.

[sathan]

( look, fern, she just regrew your arm and told you she was a demon if she had hangups she'd be in a poor position to judge.

but she simply nods, moving to make the tea, keeping her left arm close to her to help keep the towel pressed against it. once she's made the drinks she'll find a better solution )

I've had worse injuries. ( which isn't reassuring but given that she's still calm about it, no anger or dislike to him means that she bears him no ill will. it's this place that will pay for everything that it's done ) But you should be more careful.

[While he's grateful she isn't mad about, he still feels bad. It was entirely preventable.]

I know. [He's really, really bad at being careful, though.] Guess I got carried away fighting them.

[This is far from the first time he's gotten carried away in a fight, so he sounds more weary than upset.]

With your-- demon?

( she turns, handing him one of the cups of tea, picking the second up once he's taken it )

I met it.

[laminae]

Wh -

[He takes the tea, incredibly confused.]

Wait, what? What demon?

[sathan]

( she gestures to the door, walking through to the main room, taking him to the table that had two chairs at it so they could sit and talk )

It had told me that you'd worked in partnership.

( she'd been right to be suspicious of that )

Are you not aware of it?

( it was unusual having a demon within someone without it being in control. but it had explained it not as a possession )

[He stares a her for several seconds, before heading over to the dining room table and taking a seat. Not wanting to forget about his tea, he sets his cup on the table before extending some roots from his fingers and dunking them in.

Not the most polite way to drink, but he doesn't have a lot of options here.]

Are you joking? Is this some weird demon joke? I'm made out of grass, I'm not a demon.

[He's missing something, here.]

You are.

( that had been very evident when she'd healed him. a wave of her hand sees her conjuring various medical supplies, taken from somewhere within deerington -- cleaning wipes, gauze, a bandage. she'd do what she could, working on her arm as she continues speaking )

I spoke to it in the-- dream. It spoke of the sword.

[laminae]

What, that desert place with the giant worms?

[At least that's clear to him.]

Maybe you were dreaming like normal, 'cause we haven't run into each other there yet.

[Though, as he says that, he blinks and scratches his head.]

- Wait, have we? [Why does that feel like deja vu? He furrows his brow as he considers that question.] - Yeah, no. We haven't.

[He... does not sound overly sure of that, though.]

You weren't there. Just the demon.

( the blood cleaned from her arm lilith begins to bandage it. she should do more, any mortal would need stitches for this but she isn't mortal and it won't be long before the bleeding ceases entirely )

You spoke to me once of a sword -- the grass sword.
