[That doesn't actually answer anything to him, but it's clear to him it should, so he's a little embarrassed.]

It's a name I used in my home.

( time to bullshit an excuse. good job she has one )

Mortals don't know of witches or demons. I needed a name that they wouldn't recognise.

( because lilith is very well known. and she hates half of the stories that surround her )

[He's trying to sort all this out, but it feels like he's missing some pieces.]

But you were human too, right? Did you still go by Lilith when you were human?

[He has so many questions.]

I will always be Lilith.

( it was the first name that she had and it was her truth, as twisted as some had made it )

There are stories about me, ones that are no doubt in the library here.

( if he was curious enough )

[Well, now he wants to go to the library. A lot. He's still an intensely curious kid, and focusing on her would help him box up that talk about him being a demon.

Still....]

That sounds really personal.

[Like reading them would be an invasion of privacy. He lowers his hand, hesitating, before resting one on top of Lilith's.]

I'm not gonna read anything if you want to keep it private.

I wouldn't have told you if I did.

( her life had long stopped being private. lilith had never known what that was, to have one for herself. the closest life she had was as mary wardwell, the precious time she'd had with adam until it had been ripped away from her )

It's no more than what others would know already.

( on hearing her name combined with the first woman )

[That's... awful, frankly.

He might be a mess, but deep down he's still a good kid. Or at least, he came from a good kid.]

It's still your life. Even if everyone else knows about you, I only want to read those stories because you want me to.

( she honestly doesn't know what to do with this good and kindness. someone wanting to know only at her request? it is very new )

If I see you in the library then perhaps.

( get to that library, child )

Okay.

[Guess he really doesn't have an excuse to avoid the library now. But he can worry about that later, right now he needs to navigate further avoidance of his whole possible demon thing by asking her more questions while simultaneously not asking about her stories.

That sounds easy.

He pulls his hand away so he can readjust his teacup, then dunk the roots of his fingers back into it.]

So being the first human must make you super old, right? How long were humans even around for, anyway?

[sathan]

( he's lucky he's cute with the way he phrased that question )

Humans are still around.

( she simultaneously helped start and stop the apocalypse )

But-- ( a pause because never actually tells anyone this ) I've lived for more than seven millennia.

[laminae]

Geez! Seven millennia?? That's older than Simon.

[From the tone of his voice he simultaneously finds that really old but also really cool.]

Back home for a long time we all thought humans had died aside from me - [Er, he corrects himself:] - from Finn. I can't imagine what it'd be like getting to be around them for thousands of years.

[sathan]

I've seen a lot change.

( obviously. lilith spent many of her years in hell, still wanting to go back there but sometimes seeing the earth was nice.

parts of it. there were still many things that hadn't changed even since her original creation )

But something things never have.

[laminae]

Yeah?

[He leans in, fascinated. Learning more about humans and human societies is never going to get old for him.]

What hasn't changed?

( lilith pauses, curiosity in his expression. and he honestly means it, a genuine desire to learn something )

Equality.

( it was in so many forms but there was a part of it that has plagued her her entire life )

Men and women aren't offered the same opportunities. They never have been.

[laminae]

[That... is not the answer he's expecting. He's baffled, honestly.]

What? Seriously?

[Maybe she's joking?? It seems like a dumb thing to joke about though, and he doesn't understand what the punchline could be.]

When I was created there was another -- Adam.

( he's not gonna need to read the stories at this rate )

We were made together, made the same but Adam refused that we were equal. As did God.

( getting her to say god rather than false god is really something. he's not her god now but then-- )

They believed that women were less than men and should submit to them. Many men still hold such a belief.

[laminae]

[What the heck? How is any of that okay? What kind of psycho god would be that cruel?]

No offense, but I hope someone punched that Adam guy and that god square in their faces 'cause that's a whole lot of messed up.

[He frowns.]

They'd hate Ooo. The Princesses run pretty much everything, and they've always done a great job of it.

[sathan]

Not exactly.

( it's a quiet admission before he tells his story and in a way it's nice. there's something about knowing that another world got it right that is quite nice )

As they should. And no one should change that. ( #girlpower ) Once I'm free of this place things will change. Men are no longer in charge.

[laminae]

[He lets out a 'pfft'. That sucks, he thinks they both need a good punching.]

Then ladies won't have to bow down to anyone just because they're ladies?

[sathan]

It won't change everything--

( some countries already had queens but it didn't affect every part of life )

But witches will be less-- subjugated.

[laminae]

That sounds like a big step up.

[Witch life sounds so much more complicated than he ever realized.]

Man, none of the princesses back home would ever stand for that. Flame Princess'd burn them to cinders before they could finish telling her to kneel.

[sathan]

We never had that option.

( and she wished that they could have. lucifer had promised her the throne for millennia but lilith now knows that he'd never intended to allow her to rule with him. he could have so long ago otherwise )

Men have always been in charge. There are some that are kind-- ( adam had loved her, wanting solely to worship her ) --but others would have seen women held further down.

( and this may or may not shed some light on why she'd killed thor )

[He's getting the sneaking suspicion that Lilith's views might have motivated her to hurt Thor. Which would make sense, even though he still thinks murder was overkill.]

Guys like that shouldn't be in charge of anything. I'm sorry you have to deal with a bunch of dillweeds. You've gotta take care of them.

[sathan]

I will.

( it's said with a self-assured confidence. she's been punishing men for their various crimes for millennia but now she can affect a bigger change )

I'm now the Queen of Hell.

[laminae]

[Oh, with everything they've been talking about, royalty is the first thing that has come up that he actually feels familiar with.]

I have noooo clue what Hell is but hey, Queen! That's impressive. I'm already honour-bound to Princess Bubblegum as her knight, but that doesn't stop me from helping other royalty.

[Or rather, Finn is her knight, and Finn helps other royalty, but he's really feeling his Finn side right now.]
