[What the heck? How is any of that okay? What kind of psycho god would be that cruel?]

No offense, but I hope someone punched that Adam guy and that god square in their faces 'cause that's a whole lot of messed up.

[He frowns.]

They'd hate Ooo. The Princesses run pretty much everything, and they've always done a great job of it.

[sathan]

Not exactly.

( it's a quiet admission before he tells his story and in a way it's nice. there's something about knowing that another world got it right that is quite nice )

As they should. And no one should change that. ( #girlpower ) Once I'm free of this place things will change. Men are no longer in charge.

[laminae]

[He lets out a 'pfft'. That sucks, he thinks they both need a good punching.]

Then ladies won't have to bow down to anyone just because they're ladies?

It won't change everything--

( some countries already had queens but it didn't affect every part of life )

But witches will be less-- subjugated.

[laminae]

That sounds like a big step up.

[Witch life sounds so much more complicated than he ever realized.]

Man, none of the princesses back home would ever stand for that. Flame Princess'd burn them to cinders before they could finish telling her to kneel.

( and she wished that they could have. lucifer had promised her the throne for millennia but lilith now knows that he'd never intended to allow her to rule with him. he could have so long ago otherwise )

Men have always been in charge. There are some that are kind-- ( adam had loved her, wanting solely to worship her ) --but others would have seen women held further down.

( and this may or may not shed some light on why she'd killed thor )

[He's getting the sneaking suspicion that Lilith's views might have motivated her to hurt Thor. Which would make sense, even though he still thinks murder was overkill.]

Guys like that shouldn't be in charge of anything. I'm sorry you have to deal with a bunch of dillweeds. You've gotta take care of them.

( it's said with a self-assured confidence. she's been punishing men for their various crimes for millennia but now she can affect a bigger change )

I'm now the Queen of Hell.

[laminae]

[Oh, with everything they've been talking about, royalty is the first thing that has come up that he actually feels familiar with.]

I have noooo clue what Hell is but hey, Queen! That's impressive. I'm already honour-bound to Princess Bubblegum as her knight, but that doesn't stop me from helping other royalty.

[Or rather, Finn is her knight, and Finn helps other royalty, but he's really feeling his Finn side right now.]

If you need a knight around here, let me know.

( it could probably be taken from her expression that lilith is very taken aback by this, unexpecting such an offer and-- unused to it.

she's used to being commanded and whilst she had power, had demons she ordered she isn't used to someone offering to help her. most try to challenge her )

I couldn't ask you to.

( most ot all because she doesn't know how to. but if she thought about it he's also a child, someone she would kill to protect )

[That's strange. Royalty should be used to people dedicating themselves, especially knights. He's confused.]

Why not? I can't guarantee I won't be a huge screw-up. I've got loads of experience being a knight. Or - at least, I've got Finn's years of memories. That's gotta count for something.

[Hopefully.]

It does.

( and it touches her in her little demon heart, an emotion that isn't foreign to her just one not frequently felt )

But my fight isn't an easy one. ( she doesn't just mean men ) I might not be able to keep you safe.

[laminae]

Yeeeaaah, that isn't a queen's job.

[Sure, Bubblegum's helped him out before, but he's never had any expectations that she would protect him. That goes for any royalty.]

I wouldn't be a very good knight if all my fights were easy. Most of the time I'm going in thinking I'm gonna bite it.

[sathan]

You have a good heart.

( and she means that. she can recognise goodness. but this goodness she wants to protect, to not have it tainted )

It should stay that way.

[laminae]

[He appreciates the concern, but she's going to have to contend with one of his worst qualities: his stubbornness. He gives her a serious look.]

That's why I need to help people. If I don't, then....

[He shrinks in his chair, staring down at his teacup.]

Then I'm just someone who kills innocent people for no reason.

( she frowns, leaning closer to the table, resting her arms on it )

What do you mean?

( she knows he said (or avoided saying) that he'd done bad things but-- )

[He's quiet for several long moments. It's still difficult, talking about this, even though he's told Will, and knows Lilith isn't going to judge him. But he should. In the end, his mental vault had felt a tiny bit lighter after talking about it with Will.

His tone is soft when he finally speaks up.]

... Back when the town residents were wearing masks and acting crazy. I ended up killing someone who didn't deserve it. For no reason.

[sathan]

( she nods, a clear understanding in her expression about his concern. killing was not something that came easy, not to those with good hearts, particularly not the first kill )

Were they a danger? Or were you?

( had he killed someone who was threatening someone else or had this place affected him enough that he'd been the threat? )

[laminae]

[He retracts the roots in his fingers, so that he can start fiddling with the cup.]

He wasn't doing anything. He was just... there.

[Cliff hadn't been doing anything bad at all. He hadn't even been a threat at this time, with his werewolf abilities dampened.]

It was a scuffle, and I went overboard.

[He still isn't sure if it was the town, or just himself.]

( she might not know him well but lilith feels like he's given her a reasonable impression of him )

The town affected people's minds.

( she knows from wanda that the girl had lost control of herself, had lost herself. the town had done that )

You may not have been under own control.

[laminae]

I don't know.

[Which is the worst part of the whole mess. He knows he's capable of having done all that without the influence of the town.]

The point is, knights don't do that kind of thing. Finn was a knight, I have his memories, and since you're a queen who wants to help people I want to help you.

[sathan]

( she knows little about knights. demon legion and lords were different in their methods, far less honourable than those heard of in stories, that she'd observed throughout history.

but he was persistent. there was something that she could do, though, a compromise that might work for the both of them -- it would be easier to protect him if she kept him close )

Alright. But on my order.

( and hopefully he followed them as knights did )

Though if there is a fight that is not suited you follow that too. ( and, as if to give it a reason-- ) I'll need you for another time.

( don't send someone to do a job that they'd fail at when you needed them another time )

[He's fully expecting to have to keep fighting her on this, so to hear her agree has him lighting up.]

Oh - yeah, of course!

[Taking orders is no problem. He's used to taking orders from... pretty much every princess in Ooo, so he's happy to be doing something that feels familiar. Normal, for him.]

You'll get one hundred percent dedication from me!

[Because that's what Finn would do, give it his all.]

( she wonders how he'll feel about that when she tries to send him away from a fight for his own protection but for now she nods, leaning back in her chair again, drinking some of her tea )

And I'm confident that you're a good knight.

[laminae]

[... Well, he isn't sure he fully agrees with that statement.]

Finn is a great knight. I'm trying, though.
