[After asking those who would likely know where Thor was, Skye finally goes to the only other person she knows has seen him recently. Thankfully Skye has been to Maryβs house before, so finding it wasnβt difficult. Although this time she was seeing it in daylight. Knocking on the door, Skye takes a step back and hopes that Mary is actually home at the moment.
Itβs very clear Skye hasnβt gotten much sleep, partially because Thor was missing, but also because as a result of her worrying, sheβs at a bigger risk of losing control of her powers.]
( it's a surprise to find the woman on her door, someone that she hasn't seen since they'd ran into each other when she was banishing her ghosts. though with that happening lilith had kept herself a little scarce, trying to keep the ghosts close to her and away from the view of anyone else. particularly with the strain on her magic.
she's still recovering now, strength mostly returned but not quite back at full power, enough to feel relatively secure even with the ghosts still around.
there's concern in her expression at the sight of the woman, the clear drain and weariness to how she looks )
Skye-- ( she pulls her shrug around her shoulders, perhaps a little more casual in her appearance than skye would have yet seen her ) What is it?

My roommate came to you the other day, he said you found a way to get rid of his ghosts. I havenβt seen him since. Do you have any idea on where he went after he left you?
( there's a pause and it's clear that she's not expecting that question. at least skye had already known of her magic, of her being able to banish ghosts before this had happened. there's a temptation to deny it, to explain that they were successful and she'd sent him on his way but with the statue in her home from his ghost it makes it a little more difficult.
so she sighs, letting her expression fall in sorrow. her words next are quieter, mind quickly working its way through her lie, cleverly crafted and entirely plausible )

( it would be better than doing it on the doorstep. she steps back from the door to let her in, hovering by it to close the door once skye had stepped in before ushering her to the other room )
[Skyeβs stomach drops at the way Maryβs expression suddenly shifts. Numbly walking into her home, Skye notices the deer statue but doesnβt think itβs anything but a decoration. At her question, Skye quickly declines her offer. Sheβs dancing around the question despite very clearly knowing something.]
Where is he?
[Sheβs already thought something bad has happened to him, and the way Mary spoke more or less confirmed that to her. Itβs all she can do not cry right now.]
( she plays with the act that skye's seen, hands held close to her, fingers running over her knuckles as if she's not certain where to begin, as if she doesn't want to tell her this terrible news )

( or if there'd been anyone. lilith hadn't cared but lies were simple, quick, comfortable words on her tongue )
He did come here to banish a ghost -- his sister. ( she adds the detail as if it's important, that perhaps skye already knows the story of why his sister would have appeared to him )
I summoned her here, somewhere that was protected-- ( skye should remember the enchantments that lilith had mentioned last time ) --but she was stronger than I expected.
( she hangs there, not wanting to overload her with too much of her story at once but also at the most difficult part of her story, the part that lilith looks visibly troubled with having to admit )
[Brows knitting together, Skye presses her lips together in an attempt to keep from crying. She hasnβt even explained what happened next, but Skye has a very good guess...]

( her hand moves to cover her mouth, hesitation rather than sadness, a little guilt thrown in because this had been someone that cared for him, had been worried about where he was and she'd said nothing )
His sister-- she killed him. ( there's a seconds pause before she adds ) I was able to banish her but it was already too late.
