We celebrate the Winter Solstice, the change of the season.

I may be throwing a small Winterfest gathering. More of a wander in, wander out sort of thing, near the Solstice. And I wanted to invite you to come.

Could you tell me more about it?

Of course. Winterfest is a celebration, well, that is not quite right.

It is about nature and celebrating or acknowledging one's connection with it, or with the core of one's self.

It's not so much about family as Christmas is, save that it is a time to help others you care about to do the same acknowledgment and thinking and celebrating. It's more dancing, singing, and just enjoying being alive than presents and boring dinners.

It will be interesting to see, certainly.

Some of what you described is part of our own traditions, as are elements of Christmas.

Though my own traditions are perhaps more subdued than more modern traditions.

Mine are the same. I prefer more subtle and quiet celebrations. Mostly.

Mine. It is based on the tradition, but I have always been one to follow my own path.
